Hilton Head, South Carolina
This Easter for Spring Break we took a fourteen hour road trip from Buffalo to one of favorite islands with some family! We love this area because it’s close, there’s so much to do and of course it’s a great break from the winter blues. The island is full of Buffalo people too which is so much fun! 🦬 We stopped on the way down and stayed in Charlotte area. Coming home we’re driving right through.
🏠Some of our must dos include renting bikes and staying near the beach. We stayed in Springwood. It had three bedrooms, three bathrooms, pool and hot tub. We always book through Airbnb or Beachside Getaways. Our place this year was about a block away from the beach area and close enough to do some of our favorite things which are near Coligny. This area has restaurants, shops, parks, Pickelball courts, playgrounds and is close to all the biking trails. 🚲 We typically rent our bikes through Hilton Head Outfitters. Some places you book include bike rentals with your stay, so check ahead of time first.
We did so many fun things this week which are now staples when we visit. A big surprise for our family too this week was Max’s (our exchange student from Germany) family coming to surprise him for the nine days! 🇩🇪 It was incredible! 🤍
Things to Do ☑️:
•If you need a church service or are down in the area near Easter we recommend Hilton Head Island Community Church. Beautiful Easter service ✝️🕊️
•Nature kayak tour out of Shelter Cove with Hilton Head Outfitters Great nature tour learning about the tide, scallops, mud and grass and how it impacts the entire ecosystem of the four cornerstones. 🐬🛶
•Daily bike rides and catching the sunsets in Hilton Head-Sea Pines-Heritage Villas Rental area.
•Play Pickelball. So many courts in the area. Our favorite ones were in Sea Pines and Cordillo Courts.🏓
•Take a bike ride to Lawton Stables! Bring some carrots to feed the animals and partake in a horseback riding tour. It’s amazing! 🐴 My daughter absolutely loved it!
•Book a sunset boat ride. We’ve done this in the past and it’s an amazing view!! We book through Shelter Cove, Hilton Head Island The catamaran is so much fun. 🛥️🌅
•Book a fishing charter. We rented two boats and for part of our group. 🎣🦈 Our captain and tour through Off The Hook Tours. 🪝We caught so many fish and a few sharks. We were able to have them cleaned and cooked them up for the family! Delish and highly recommend. ✨
•If you have littles a boat tour with Pirates of Hilton Head or crabbing with Captain Kidd 🦀🏴☠️
•If you’re looking for a day trip head to Savannah, Georgia or Dafuskie Island. Neither will disappoint with so much to do! You can rent a golf cart and tour the island! ☀️
•Enjoy a concert or the playground at Celebration Park. The trails and playground are incredible! We even enjoyed some live music outdoors a few nights. 🎶
Favorite Eats and Drinks 🍽️:
Most of our breakfast and lunch were at home or packed. However, we did sneak out for some coffee, baked goods and awesome burritos! C’estBon and Hilton Head Social Bakery were our favorite coffee and baked goods! 🥐 Breakfast and lunch were our favorite burritos fromJAVA Burrito Company. 🌮 Hands down the best breakfast and lunch burritos.
We always tried a new place each night for dinner. Every meal we had was delish!
Alexanders Restaurant and wine bar. Fresh seafood and great wine. 🍤
Guiseppe's Pizza is a great pizza place and vibe! When coming from Buffalo, it’s hard to compare but it was pretty good. Order in or take out and enjoy poolside. 🍕
Stop by the The Salty Dog in Sea Pines. Great area for shops, Pickelball, live music and outdoor activities. The restaurant really caters to kids and the grub is seafood. The story is pretty incredible too! Be prepared to wait! 🐶
Checkout Skull Creek Boathouse. Fun area with a beautiful outdoor vibe. Didn’t make it this trip, but kids love it!
Grab a bite at the Fishcamp on Broad Creek for fresh seafood, awesome outdoor vibes, and beautiful area to catch the sunset. 🐟
If you’re looking for a quick bite with a fun vibe and brewery checkout Lincoln & South Brewing Company. It’s where the HHI locals go. Tons of outdoor games, food truck, great craft beer, and live music on the weekend. Tons of room for the kids to run and play.
Our last night was at The Quarterdeck for an amazing meal, outdoor view, and fun area in Harbour Town. After dinner catch some shops, walk to the top of the lighthouse for $7 and catch the sunrise. If you have little ones, check out the awesome playground here too!
🍦Our top ice cream shops in the area are Cups and Cones, Salty Dog Ice Cream and The Ice Cream Cone near Coligny!
🛍️ Shopping:
When the sun goes down or we don’t have the best weather, we love to hit up the shopping. Coligny has great shops for HHI merchandise, a trip over the Tanger Outlets never disappoints! You can even head over to Historic Bluffton for some quaint shops and a stop at Rose Hill Plantation! You can even check out some awesome thrift stores in the area too!
If you’re looking for somewhere to head or make a new family tradition each Easter, we love HHI. Every time we return, we find new gems and have so much fun!
